PDFMeNot.com bought by Google?

While browsing through the Internet for some more PDF to Flash resources, we incidentally encountered link to the www.pdfmenot.com website a number of times. In order to have a look at the service, we visited the website and found it to be owned by the Google and moving to https://docs.google.com/viewer. Our curiosity arose and we tried to looked out to find more about the website seeing its association with Google.

At the resources, labnol.org and stevenmcohen.pbworks.com, we found few screen shots of the older PDFMeNot.com website, so we became sure of its being acquired by the search engine behemoth – Google. But surprisingly, we could not find any news of Google’s buying, acquiring or shopping of PDFMeNot.com by searching “pdfmenot.com google” neither in Google nor in Google News.

The Compete rank of PDFMeNot.com showed this screenshot which shows it getting down around November 2009, which should be the time of its acquisition by Google. The WhoIs records of the domain pdfmenot.com are private and the domain is hosted at nearlyfreespeech.net. Pinging the domain pdfmenot.com gives the IP 208.94.116.73. The domain was last updated on 8-Feb-2010.

Websiteoutlook.com evalutes PDFMeNot.com for US$ 19673.5 but we are sure that they must have been sold on much higher side. Anyone having updates?
